How Wildfires Affect Animals:
Mainly bigger animals like deer and elk can escape the fire. Smaller animals like squirrels and foxes aren't always able to. Birds can also escape from the fires but the small babies that can't fly or the eggs aren't as lucky as the ones that can fly away. Their nests also get destroyed and they have to find a new place to set up home at. Since their habitat was destroyed, they become displaced and often spend huge amounts of time looking for food, water, and shelter in their destroyed habitat or a new one which then causes distress for the animals that were there before them. Wildfires can also lead to animals going extinct.
